It was only the second game of the 2021 season, but on Saturday, Detroit Tigers 1B/DH Miguel Cabrera was about to be pulled for a pinch hitter because he was dealing with a cramping issue.
Following the game, Tigers manager AJ Hinch told the media that Cabrera was cramping “over pretty much his whole body.” Cabrera said he was able to hit in the 8th inning but Hinch had already made the decision that Akil Baddoo was going to pinch-hit, though he never got the opportunity because the third out was made while he was in the on-deck circle.
On Easter Sunday, the Tigers will wrap up their 3-game series against the Cleveland Indians but Cabrera is missing from the starting lineup.
Prior to the game, Hinch explained that Miggy is “a little” sore but he is not concerned. Hinch also said his plan was to give Cabrera a day off anyway.
“A little bit of both, but nothing I’m concerned about at this point.”
Miguel Cabrera was cramping in the ninth inning yesterday and isn't in the lineup today. A.J. Hinch said Cabrera is "a little" sore but he was also looking to get him a day off this homestand.
