Could the Detroit Red Wings decide to bring back goaltender Jonathan Bernier next season? According to one notable NHL analyst (and former goaltender), it’s a possibility.
NHL Network’s Kevin Weekes stated earlier today that GM Steve Yzerman “could have some appetite” to bring back the veteran goaltender, who has performed well in front of a poor team in front of him the past three seasons.
Kevin Weekes just said on NHL Network that the Red Wings “may have some appetite to re-signing Bernier” and that’s the shit we like to see. Rewarding a veteran that brings it every day and is consistently a tremendous competitor. 🐙👌🏼

This season, Bernier has sported an 8-7 record, and has 32 career wins while donning the Winged Wheel. He’s slated to become an unrestricted free-agent after this season.
Of course, Detroit also has goaltender Thomas Greiss locked in for another season.
