Blake Griffin sounds off on his recent performances

It hasn’t been the start the Detroit Pistons hoped for.

Instead of building on their playoff appearance last season, the team has stumped out of the gate in 2019, amassing a 4-10 record in their first 14 games and quickly losing ground in the Eastern Conference.

Forward Blake Griffin missed the first 10 games of the season due to injury, but hasn’t exactly been lighting the court on fire since returning. He’s averaging 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 34.8 percent from the field and a mere 18.8 percent from three-point range.

“I have to be better, that’s the bottom line,” Griffin explained during Thursday’s practice. “I can’t play the way I’ve played the last two games and expect us to win…I just have to be better.”

Griffin enjoyed the best season of his career while playing in 75 games last season – but the team will go as he goes. Griffin and the rest of his teammates must improve quickly, or this season will quickly be going down the tubes.

The Pistons have a chance to get back into the win column on Friday when they host the Atlanta Hawks at Little Caesars Arena.
