According to the most recent reports (at least at the time of this article being written), the Detroit Lions will name Dan Campbell as their next head coach on Wednesday.
Campbell is not being brought in because of what he can do with Xs and Os but because of how he can motivate his players to run through a wall for him.
That is all fine and dandy (I love it) but Campbell’s first order of business will be to surround himself with the right coaches and coordinators that will finally lead the Lions to the promised land.
We may have to wait a bit to find out who Campbell will hire to be his offensive, defensive, and special teams’ coordinators but Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Campbell has already decided on one coach.
According to Birkett, Campbell has already decided that he will hire Mike Clark to be the team’s strength coach.
From Detroit Free Press:
Trinity University strength coach Mike Clark also is expected to take a similar job with the Lions.
Clark was Campbell’s strength coach at Texas A&M and spent 13 seasons in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears and Washington.
Nation, who would you like to see Campbell hire as his coordinators?
Need to hire Wade Phillips as DC.
