The Detroit Lions announced earlier this week that quarterback Matthew Stafford had been placed on their Reserve/COVID-19 list. The good news is that he hadn’t contracted the illness, but was in close contact with someone who had.

Subsequent tests have turned out negative results, and he was activated off of the list on Saturday.
However, there’s one last hurdle that must be overcome for No. 9 to officially be cleared to play Sunday afternoon against the Minnesota Vikings. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Stafford’s COVID-19 test from Saturday morning still needs to come back negative on Sunday morning:
Should the test come back negative, he’ll be good to go. If for whatever reason it doesn’t, Lions backup quarterback Chase Daniel would start in his place.
