Detroit Lions right guard T.J. Lang returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering the sixth concussion of his NFL career last month against the Dallas Cowboys. Afterwards, he spoke to about the state of his health and his efforts to get back into game shape. The bye-week certainly aided in his recovery, and he also took steps during the team’s time off to get back to game shape.

“Dating back to last week, I tried not to make too big a deal bout it,” Lang said. “Obviously, I’ve been down this road before. The older you get, the more you start to think, but I think the guys here – the trainers and doctors – everybody that’s really involved in my personal life did a good job setting me up with high end experts and doctors and neurologists I could talk to. I reached out to a lot of them and tried to gather as much information as I could. I’d say most of those meetings where really positive.”
“I took my wife with me to a couple of them, she seems to be worried about some of the head stuff and everything that’s going on……At the end of the day you have to make a conscious educated decision moving forward and i think i gathered enough information to feel comfortable to continue to play when I’m feeling good.”

During a bye week in the NFL, the hope is that players have time to recover from injuries and refresh the bodies prior to the team’s next game. That seems to be the case for some Detroit Lions’ players as both T.J. Lang and Ezekiel Ansah returned to practice on Wednesday, though both were limited.
