On Thursday, news broke that the Detroit Lions will cut veteran CB Desmond Trufant at the start of the new league year (March 17). This came as no surprise as it has been rumored for some time now that Trufant, who is coming off of an injury-plagued season, would be cut to free up some much-needed cap space for the Lions.
Now, according to some rumors floating around, the Lions are also expected to cut DL Danny Shelton.
Shelton, who is 27, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 1st Round (No. 12 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.
In 2020, Shelton recorded 37 tackles and one sack in 12 games for the Lions.
Nation, would releasing Shelton, who will cost the Lions $5.25 million in 2021 if he stays, be the right decision?
