Former San Fransisco 49ers CB Jimmy Williams dies

According to the San Francisco 49ers, Jimmy Williams, who played for them from 2001-2004, has died.

Just moments ago, the 49ers tweeted out a message to offer their condolences.

“The 49ers mourn the passing of alumni Jimmy Williams. Our organization sends its condolences to his wife, Chandra, and the entire Williams family.”

Former San Fransisco 49ers CB Jimmy Williams dies

Jimmy Williams, who was just 43, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2001 NFL Draft.

During his six seasons in the NFL, four with the 49ers and two with the Seattle Seahawks, Williams had 151 tackles and three interceptions. He also returned 93 punts for 817 yards and a touchdown and returned 49 kicks for 1,030 yards during his career.

Prior to being selected in the NFL Draft, Williams played college football at Vanderbilt after being one of the highest recruited players in school history

After retiring from the NFL, Williams returned to his hometown to give back.

Williams returned to Baton Rouge to give back to his school, Episcopal High School, where he coached the middle school team until 2010. Williams has since returned to Baton Rouge and is now the assistant athletic director in addition to defensive coordinator at Episcopal High School.
