DETROIT TIGERS – THE AVENGERS
The Tigers have touted a team of world-class baseball athletes that have been some of the best players of their era. It seems the success of this organization is tied to whether they get in their own way or if they can rise above so many powerful personalities in one place. The Avengers and the Tigers have familiar faces everyone knows. No matter where they are or what they do, they continue to be a mainstay in their respective genres.
DETROIT PISTONS – YOUNG JUSTICE
Both the Pistons and Young Justice tout a group of young stars that follow a few legends. Drummond/Jackson/Caldwell-Pope and Robin/Superboy/Wonder Girl follow in the footsteps of giants and stars, looking to recapture the magic and make a little of their own. Their youth may cause growing pains but everyone is hoping these young heroes can come together to create a special team.
DETROIT RED WINGS – GREEN LANTERN CORPS
What a team both of these groups are. The Detroit Red Wings have such an impressive playoff streak under their belts. They carry the talents of Steve Yzerman, Gordie Howe, Brendan Shanahan, and Nik Lidstrom with them as they face the onslaught of the ever-changing NHL. The Red Wings have been in contention for the better part of 20 years despite so many pieces changing around them. The Green Lantern Corps have been just as steady despite drastic changes. They had the devilish Sinestro try to destroy them from the inside. John Stewart and Hal Jordan have donned the green and black with might and courage. It seems nothing will ever take down these stalwarts of their craft.
DETROIT LIONS – S. H. I. E. L. D.
This comparison comes with the most maligned two organizations on this list. S. H. I. E. L. D. has had a number of failures despite their best efforts. The famous Civil War between Captain America and Iron Man saw the ugly side of the human-ran organization. The “Winter Soldier” storyline saw the deconstruction of the entire organization by the infiltration of Hydra.
The Detroit Lions have had similar failures that include the 2008 winless season and the fumbling of the 1990;s that didn’t include a playoff victory past 1991. These two really need to get themselves together because many people are relying on them. Every time S. H. I. E. L. D. and the Lions fail, millions of people are let down and the aftermath is usually met with anger and sadness. Hopefully, for the sake of humanity, these two can finally overcome their previous organizational failures.
