MICHIGAN FOOTBALL – JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA
The Justice League of America has a long and storied history that features some of comics greatest heroes. The University of Michigan has a rich history filled with legends from college football’s past and present. The JLA have had their ups and downs, even an implosion when their biggest stars clashed over ideology. Michigan had a breaking point after booster involvement swallowed the program whole. The JLA and Michigan both are easily recognizable to the entire public. They have had their times of stress and turmoil, but each time, it seems everyone can count on these two organizations to come out on top.
MICHIGAN BASKETBALL – FANTASTIC FOUR
No matter what happens, we all want these two to succeed. For every up, there seems to be a down for the Fantastic Four. They continue to disappoint despite the prowess that everyone knows they have as Marvel’s First Family. Michigan, on the other hand, doesn’t truly fail but doesn’t excel to the level they should. They have access to the talent pool of Detroit and have had some epic teams in 1992, 1993, and 2013. We all are pulling for you guys, even if the cards have been stacked against you.
MICHIGAN STATE FOOTBALL – THE DEFENDERS
Everyone loves the guy with the chip on his shoulder; angry, brooding, and always ready to tussle. No two groups personify this trait better than Marvel’s Defenders and the Michigan State football program. MSU always acts slighted and has gotten an aggressive edge under Mark Dantonio. The Defenders meanwhile have fought in the slums of New York and continue to defend it with their blood, sweat, and tears. The Defenders continue to gain attention thanks to Netflix in the public eye and Michigan State has risen to a well-respected program nationally. Despite what the teams may act like, they are as feared and respected as they’ve always wanted.
MICHIGAN STATE BASKETBALL – THE SINISTER SIX
The Sinister Six are not A-list villains. There is no Venom or Green Goblin in their ranks. The six bad guys comprise of villains that have exceeded expectations and came together to fight a common foe far more powerful than themselves. Michigan State has done the same thing by recruiting and maximizing the potential of their talent. There aren’t any players like Anthony Davis, J. J. Reddick, Kevin Durant, or Greg Oden. What MSU does well mirrors the success of the Sinister Six. They do the more out of less well and will continue to do so in the face of flashier competition.
