There are multiple times in every football game when a team needs a big play and it is up to the quarterback to get the ball to the right person so they can make that play. That is no exception for the Detroit Lions and quarterback, Jared Goff.
Heading into the 2022 season, Goff is going to have plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal when he steps on the field, including TE T.J. Hockenson, WRs D.J. Chark, Josh Reynolds, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, to go along with RBs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams. (Not to mention rookie WR Jameson Williams when he is fully recovered from his ACL injury).
But of all of those weapons, there is one that Goff will be looking for when things break down or when the Lions need a play.
Jared Goff reveals who he looks for when the Lions ‘need a play'
During a recent interview with ESPN, Jared Goff revealed that when push comes to shove, it is Amon-Ra St. Brown that he looks to for a big play.
“I'm looking for him when things break down, and I'm looking for him when we need a play,” Goff said. “Right now, he's that guy. … He can take a sweep to the house. At the same time, he understands defense and coverage, and it's so rare for a young player to have that ability. He keeps asking the right questions and understanding what's going on over there. He's going [up].”
St. Brown had an outstanding final six weeks of his rookie season and the hope is that he takes another step forward in 2022.
By the sounds of it, Jared Goff is very confident that Amon-Ra St. Brown will do just that (and maybe more).
Nation, do you think Amon-Ra St. Brown will be as productive in 2022 as he was in 2021?
