EASTERN MICHIGAN EAGLES
LAST TWO WEEKS: W vs CMU, 85-63; L vs BUF, 77-68; W @ BGSU, 81-53; W @ OHIO, 53-49
OVERALL RECORD: 11-6, 3-1 MAC)
Conversely for the Eagles, they are off to a very impressive start in league play. It all started with a 22-point pounding of CMU at home. Makes you wonder had they not laid an egg in the next game against Buffalo.
The offensive was solid, sure. But the defense has been absolutely superb. If you add in their blowout win over Long Beach State before this recent four-game run, the Eagles have only allowed 61 points per game over their last five games played. They are holding opponents to barely 34 percent shooting from the floor, under 26 percent from behind the long line.
Offensively, EMU might be the most balanced team in both the MAC and state of Michigan, with four scorers in double-figures on the season. We know that guys like Willim Mangum IV, Ray Lee and James Thompson IV are going to get their points. But junior Tim Bond has been playing very well as of late. Over his last eight now, Bond has per game totals of 13.3 points, 4.4 assists and 5.0 rebounds.
Bond and the rest of the Eagles are on an upswing right now, let’s see how long it can last for over these next couple weeks:
