WESTERN MICHIGAN BRONCOS
LAST TWO WEEKS: L @ OHIO, 89-58; L @ AKRON, 66-59; W vs TOL, 90-74; W vs KSU, 92-88
OVERALL RECORD: 6-10, 2-2 MAC
So it didn’t start off well for the Broncos in conference play getting dumptrucked by Ohio. But there’s no shame in losing on the road to who appear to be the class of the MAC in Akron and the aforementioned Bobcats of Ohio. And they then responded nicely with back-to-back games of 90+ points at home.
Not shocking to see Thomas Wilder a part of the MACtion. The team’s leading scorer averaged better than 17 per game over the last four played. But he was only the leading scorer in two of those four games. In the win over Toledo, WMU freshman Reggie Jones put up 20 in 27 minutes of action, one more than Wilder in his 32 minutes played. And in win over Kent State, senior Tucker Haymond netted a career-high 35. Haymond and Jones also happen to be the team’s second- and third-leading scorers respectively for the Broncos, so stellar performances from them is encouraging to see.
It’s the first time this season that Western Michigan has won consecutive games. Let’s see if they can carry that momentum over the next couple weeks in what will surely be a tough stretch:
