In case you have not yet heard, there are plenty of rumors and speculation in regards to Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker and the possibility of him jumping ship and heading to LSU following the 2021 season.
On Monday, Tucker was asked about the rumors and he did not give Spartan fans any reassurance that he was committed to the program as he dismissed the questions without really answering them.
A day later, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was also asked about the rumors surrounding Tucker and Izzo was not afraid to chime in.
From MLive:
“I’m not really worried about it,” Tom Izzo said of the reports Tuesday after his team’s practice on Tuesday. “I talked to Mel. I think, in this day and age it’s just part of the deal we go through.”
“I don’t think there’s any question about it, he wants a place like this place, and then he wants the consistency,” Izzo said. “Having a winning team is OK, having a winning program is something legacies are made of.”
“There’s always going to be a rumor,” Izzo said. “Are you taking a new job or are you getting fired? Very seldom is it ‘Oh man, that coach did a hell of a job and he’s going to be here for a while.’ It’s ‘Is he getting fired because he didn’t do a good enough job? Is he leaving because he did too good of a job.”
“When that leather shoe hits that leather ball, there ain’t going to be nothing else thought about but winning the game, I promise you that on Saturday,” Izzo said.
Spartan fans, does this make you feel a bit more confident that Tucker will remain at Michigan State past the 2021 season?
