On September 10, the Detroit Lions will open up their 2018 campaign on Monday Night Football at Ford Field against the New York Jets. It will be the first regular season game for Matt Patricia as head coach of the Lions and you can bet Detroit fans will be fired up for what is being looked at as a new beginning.
After finishing 9-7 and missing the NFL Playoffs last season, the Lions fired Jim Caldwell and general manager Bob Quinn vowed that this team would be better moving forward. With Matthew Stafford under center, surrounded by a trio of ultra-talented receivers and what should be a much improved offensive line and rushing attack, the Lions offense could be one of the best in the NFL.
In addition, there is also a hope that the defense will take a step forward under Patricia’s watch as that was his specialty with the New England Patriots. The Lions defense has left much to be desired in recent years and it will be one of the keys to taking the team to the next level.
But for now, as Lions fans, we can just sit and wait until the regular season begins, dreaming of someday reaching a Super Bowl.
