OTD: Michigan Wolverines crush the dreams of the rival Ohio State Buckeyes (VIDEO)

It’s the annual event that college football fans everywhere know as “The Game” between the two fierce Big Ten rivals from Ann Arbor and Columbus.

And while recent history has favored the Ohio State Buckeyes over the Michigan Wolverines, it wasn’t always that way. Let’s take a look back at a classic edition of the annual clash in 1990 that resulted in a Wolverines win, and heartbreak for the Buckeyes.

Deadlocked at 13-13 with just under two minutes remaining in regulation, the Buckeyes had their eyes set on a berth in the Rose Bowl. Ohio State attempted to convert a fourth-and-1 from their own 29 yard line, but were denied by the Wolverines defense.

Michigan’s offense was subsequently able to drive down the field, leading to J.D. Carlson kicking a 37-yard field goal with time expiring to seal a Michigan 16-13 victory and deny the Buckeyes a Rose Bowl appearance:

Who else remembers watching this classic?

  1. It will never be the same. I live in Ohio and my 2 sons went to high school here. I was raised in Michigan as a Wolverine fan forever. There is only one power house here, the Buckeyes! MSU and U of M are only an hour away from each other. The talent is split. Plus, I’m sorry to say if Mr. Harbaugh doesn’t leave soon, the program is lost. It’s going to take many year to recover, if ever.
