In case you have not heard, NFL teams have until 4 p.m. EST today to trim their rosters down to 53 players. This, of course, means there will be a ton of cuts before the deadline, with most of those players being placed on waivers.
Some of those players placed on waivers will be claimed by another team, while others will be on the outside looking in when the 2020 season begins.

Just moments ago, news broke that the Green Bay Packers made a surprise move by cutting WR Jake ‘Touchdown Jesus’ Kumerow.
The Kumerow cut is surprising in part because Aaron Rodgers has repeatedly praised him, telling us on @SiriusXMNFL a couple days ago "I love his reliability." https://t.co/W17TeN0flW https://t.co/O1rVTutadd

First early surprise: Packers are releasing WR Jake Kumerow, according to a source. This a day after Aaron Rodgers counted Kumerow among the four returning receivers he suggested were locks to make it again. https://t.co/nvmlCZ3qPM

Kumerow, who has become a favorite of Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers, has played in 19 games for the Packers over the past two seasons, catching 20 passes for 322 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Should the Detroit Lions claim Kumerow off waivers? Personally, I would not hate if the Lions added Kumerow to their practice squad but it is unlikely that he would ever see the field unless there were a couple of injuries to the current receiver corp.
One thing is for sure, the Packers front office does not really care much for Rodgers’ opinion!
