Updates on Lions safety Glover Quin, wide receiver Golden Tate

The Detroit Lions received some good news today as they get ready to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Two weeks ago against the New Orleans Saints, Quin and Lions defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson collided with Robinson’s knee hitting Quin’s helmet, knocking Quin out and causing a concussion.

“It was scary,” Quin said Thursday of the hit and its aftermath. “Just to be honest with you, it was scary, you know? Playing football for a long time and never had a play like that one. But it was just an unfortunate situation because I’ve had many plays like that, it just never had that result.

This is the second time in two years Quin has suffered a concussion while facing the Saints. Quin has been the one the Lions could always count on to suit up and play, and he has an active streak of 122 games, which is the most among safeties and the 7th longest streak in the NFL.

On the offensive side of the coin, wide receiver Golden Tate participated in practice as well, meaning that shoulder might not be as bad as originally thought. Which is good news for the Lions as Tate is far and away Matthew Stafford’s most trusted receiver.

There were a few other Lions that had been out that seem to be making their way back on the playing field.

The Lions are going to need all-hands-on-deck as they get ready to face hometown-great Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. And for a banged up Matthew Stafford, the possibility of seeing No. 15 on the field, as well as Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr., has to feel good.
