WATCH: Tom Petty’s Super Bowl XLII Haltime Show was perfect

Just after midnight, it was confirmed that singer Tom Petty had passed away at the age of 66. Petty went into cardiac arrest on Sunday and was later found unconscious in his home in Malibu.

Petty’s manager, Tony Dimitriades released the following statement on behalf of Petty’s family:

On behalf of the Tom Petty family, we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40pm PT surrounded by his family, his bandmates, and friends.

Petty was well-known for many of his greatest hits and he was loved by millions. One of Petty’s most memorable performances, at least for football fans, came at Super Bowl XLII as he performed the Halftime Show.
