Is Little Caesars Arena favoring one of its home teams over the other? Detroit Piston center Andre Drummond seems to think so.

After a visit over the weekend, Drummond couldn’t help but notice the abundance of Red Wings memorabilia throughout the new venue. During Monday’s team media day, Drummond explained:

I just felt like there’s a lot of hockey stuff. I’m like, damn. I mean, I understand we’re sharing this arena, but throw a little [Pistons stuff] somewhere.

Drummond acknowledged that the space isn’t done yet, but perhaps more could be done to make the arena welcoming to Detroit’s basketball team. Executives say the arena will more prominently feature whichever team is in town — and, currently, the Wings are.

However, there’s no denying the Detroit Red Wings franchise is more decorated than the Pistons. So, it kind of makes sense for LCA to have a Hockeytown vibe. If you’ve not had a chance to tour the arena, it’s worth noting retired numbers and championship banners from both teams hang from the rafters. And hockey and basketball memorabilia is featured throughout the concourse.

Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy responded to Drummond’s comments saying, “It’s a word-class arena, it’s the best in the entire country. The sight lines are terrific. The way it is built puts people closer to the court, which I think will give us an outstanding home court advantage when we get those people yelling and screaming.”

These two aren’t the only teams to share a home court. Several NHL and NBA cities house two franchises under the same roof. In fact, the Los Angeles Kings, Lakers, and Clippers have all three found a way to play at the Staples Center.

The Wings host the Penguins, Blackhawks, and Maple Leafs at home this week as their preseason schedule continues. The Pistons don’t break in their new home court until Wednesday, October 4, at 7 p.m. when they welcome the Hornets for their first preseason game.
