The Detroit Tigers made pitcher Ty Madden their No. 32 overall draft pick, and subsequently signed him to a quick $2.5 million deal. He visited his future home for the first time today prior to Detroit's matchup with the Texas Rangers, and he was happy to take it all in.
It's awesome,” Madden said outside the Tigers' dugout at Comerica Park, after meeting with manager AJ Hinch and pitching coach Chris Fetter. “I've never been here before. It's giant, but that plays to my favor. It's beautiful, and I hope to throw here soon.”
He explained what the plan as of now is regarding his immediate future with the club:
“We've stared planning a little bit, I think I”m going to go down to Lakeland for a little bit, and then they're going to send me home for the offseason.”
Of course, he had nothing but good things to say about Hinch and Fetter:
“It was awesome,” he said of meeting with them. “They were talking about some of my stuff, the plan going forward, the steps to being here and being at this level.”
