ESPN lists 5 Red Wings prospects in top 50 list

[tps_header]Corey Pronman of ESPN released his mid-season Top 50 NHL Prospects List, and the Detroit Red Wings are well-represented with 5 prospects on Pronman’s list. As with any prospect, you never know what you’re going to get. Some pan out for the better and end up making an impact on the pro-level, and some just can’t seem to make it past the junior stages of competition. You’ll need to have a subscription to Insider, but if you do you can view the list in its entirety here. Here are 5 Red Wing hopefuls that cracked the Top 50:[/tps_header]

#30: Evgeny “Geno” Svechnikov – Drafted 19th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Wings. Evgeny shows great upside with great offensive hockey sense, but needs improvement in the skating and defensive parts of his game. He represented his native country of Russia in the 2016 World Junior Championships, where Russia placed second overall, earning a silver medal. According to Detroit GM Ken Holland, come next season, Svechnikov will be in Grand Rapids, which should surely help progress Evgeny’s game.
