Fastbreak Five: End of the Season Edition

4. Greg Monroe must go

As has been clearly evident, Stan Van Gundy is building his system from the ground up and all players who don’t fit that system must go. Enter Greg “Moose” Monroe. His offensive game does not compliment nearly as well with the now-solidified offensive system as it had before. Also, his fiasco with the front office regarding his contract hasn’t helped either, and there have been countless rumors of his departure (despite constant lip service suggesting a desire to stay in Detroit).

The Pistons need to avoid falling into the trap of loving a player just because he was the star of a bad era. My opinion is that Van Gundy should let him walk and use that money (which will be a hefty price for whoever wants to overpay for this rigid post-forward) to bring in more complimentary system guys, such as the soon-to-be restricted free agent Draymond Green.
