Not only is Justin Layne a 4-star receiver in the class of 2016, but he happens to be the No. 1 rated receiver in Ohio. So, he must signed, sealed and delivered to Ohio State, right?
Not only has Layne already verbally committed to Michigan State, but now he is making it absolutely clear that his commitment is still solid.
Layne told Mike Griffith from The Spartan Beat radio show that on a scale of 0 to 100 that he is “120” percent sure that he will sign with the Spartans on National Signing Day.
“Michigan State was my first offer, (and) I went on a couple visits, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State,” Layne said.
“Michigan State felt comfortable, and I knew the first time I went there that I was going to go there, but I wasn’t sure how I would go about it.”
Layne also talked about his recruiting experience with Ohio State. Considering he is from Ohio, these are not the kindest words for the Buckeyes when it comes to recruiting.
“I just didn’t like the way Ohio State went about things, and everybody wanted me to go there, and I just didn’t like it,” Layne said. “Then with the recruiting process I got tired of the (phone calls). I mean, I know it’s a blessing, but it got kind of annoying.”
It sounds like Urban Meyer and the Ohio State recruiting team definitely rubbed Layne the wrong way.
Nothing is ever certain until a prep player signs on the dotted line, but it sounds like Mark Dantonio and the Spartans will be smiling on Feb. 3rd.
