In 2019, the Detroit Lions finished with a 3-12-1 record and there is no question about it that GM Bob Quinn has a plethora of work to do during the offseason if he wants the team to compete for the playoffs in 2020.

On Friday, the Lions announced they have officially cut starting RT Rick Wagner while starting RG Graham Glasgow has made it pretty clear that he will not be back either.
With the right side of the offensive line needing to be replaced, there is one blockbuster trade that would immediately make the offensive line better than what it was in 2019.
That trade would involve the Lions sending a draft pick to the Washington Redskins for perennial Pro Bowl tackle, Trent Williams.

On Saturday, Josina Anderson reported that the Redskins are “starting” at a 2nd-round compensation request to trade Williams but that asking price is “negotiable.”
I'm told the #Skins are "starting" at a 2nd-round compensation request to trade Trent Williams, but, from a team perspective this ask "is negotiable," per source. I'm told there's sentiment w/i the org a trade has been slowed by contractual demands based on their market feedback.

If Williams is indeed available for a draft pick (whether it be 2nd or 3rd round), the Lions should make the deal immediately.
Williams, who is 31, made the NFL Pro Bowl from 2012-2018 and though he plays the same position (left tackle) as current Lions starting LT Taylor Decker, it could work out if the Lions move Decker to the right side.
If the Lions do not make a move to secure either a right guard and/or a right tackle prior to the draft, they will be forced to use an early-round pick.
If I was Bob Quinn, I would be on the phone every day with the Washington Redskins until a deal can be reached.
