UPDATED: SCHERZER TO NATIONALS A DONE DEAL
The biggest free agent arm this offseason is about to come off the market. According to multiple reports including CBS’ Sports Jon Heyman, and SBNation’s Chris Cotillo, Max Scherzer is on the verge of signing a 7-year deal with the Washington Nationals. The 7-year deal is expected to net Scherzer $180-$200 million dollars.

The report indicates that 1 other team is still in the mix, but that team isn’t named. The deal is expected to be announced in the coming days. Scherzer turned down a 6-year, $144M deal with the Tigers last spring.
