According to a report from The Washington Post, the NFL is reportedly considering adding a “Buffer Week”, which would be a so-called “Week 18” and would mean only one week of preparation between the Conference Championship game and the Super Bowl.
A potential “Week 18” is “a contingency that’s been discussed,” according to the report, though nothing has been set in stone.
The Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers have had their game, which was originally scheduled for this afternoon, pushed back to late October. Additionally, the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots have pushed back today’s game to tomorrow after QB Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19.
