The Detroit Tigers closed out their 10-game road trip Thursday afternoon against the Chicago White Sox. They came into the series with a 4-3 record on the road trip, having taken two of three from the Minnesota Twins, and winning the latter two games of the 4-game set against the Kansas City Royals. Despite the series loss and a .500 road trip, there is a lot to take away from this series on the south side of Chicago.
The Detroit Tigers are a little over a calendar month into the 2015 season and currently find themselves second place in the AL Central division behind reigning American League champions, the Kansas City Royals. Detroit started off 11-2 out of the gate but have since then leveled off. They are currently struggling to find that consistent good play that they had for the first two weeks of the regular season back in April.
The Detroit Tigers (17-9) will conclude their current 10-game road trip when they begin a 3-game series against the Chicago White Sox. Detroit is coming off a series split with the Kansas City Royals, after dropping the first two in the series and being outscored 12-2. In Friday’s match-up, the Tigers did not collect their first hit of the ball game until the 8th inning. The near combined no-hitter by Kansas City was set up by starter Chris Young, who pitched the minimum five innings, striking out nine Tigers hitters and walking three. On Saturday, Detroit could not have asked for a better performance out of their ace David Price. Price threw a complete game, giving up just one earned run on five hits, and striking out three. He was efficient and just what the doctor ordered. The Tigers earned themselves a split in the series after the bats finally woke up in Kansas City, behind a quality start by Anibal Sanchez, giving up three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings.
The Detroit Tigers are coming off a 4-3 week to start their 10-game road trip, in which they took two out of three games against the Minnesota Twins, then salvaged a split with the Kansas City Royals, after losing the first two in that four-game set. Let’s take a look at how the Tigers’ farm system played out this week.
The Detroit Tigers lost starting shortstop Jose Iglesias to a left groin injury this afternoon in their 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals. Iglesias was pulled in the 6th inning and replaced by Andrew Romine for the remainder of the game. The removal of Iglesias from the game seemed to be more precautionary than anything so the injury … Read more
