For the 4th straight season, the Detroit Tigers are champions of the American League Central Division!
David Price went 7 1/3 innings and Ian Kinsler had a solo home run and added a key RBI in the 8th, as Detroit topped Minnesota on the season’s final day, 3-0.
Kinsler crushed his 17th home run of the season in the 3rd inning off Twins starter Kyle Gibson which gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead. That would be all the run support David Price needed, as he absolutely shut down the Twins offense today, allowing just 4 hits. In the 8th, Kinsler singled to left field which allowed Andrew Romine to score from 2nd. Ezekiel Carrera went to 3rd on the play and Torii Hunter was able to get him home on the very next play with a sacrifice fly, making it 3-0.
Joe Nathan collected his 35th save of the season, with one of his easiest outings of the year. Nathan didn’t allow a runner to reach base.
The Tigers will celebrate for now, but then turn their sights on the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS!
