Top 15 college football programs this century

[tps_title]13. Michigan Wolverines[/tps_title]

Hail to the victors! The first half of this time period has been kind to the Wolverines. Michigan fans were treated to three Rose Bowl appearances, a reign of terror over hated rival Michigan State from 2002-2007, and participating in the biggest regular season game in college football in the 21st Century.

The bout between Ohio State and Michigan in 2006 was an example of the sheer power that, not only the rivalry, both schools exhibit over the rest of college football. That regular season finale in 2006 was the peak of the Big Ten since the turn of the century. Players like Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Braylon Edwards, Jason Avant, Mario Manningham and Chris Perry donned the winged helmet in a dominant, Lloyd Carr-led era for the maize and blue.

Unfortunately for Wolverines fans, two lackluster hires and the rise of Michigan State have put the program in a position they haven’t experienced before. Losing to Ohio State 11 out of 12 years and MSU 7 out of 8 years has really hit Ann Arbor hard in these rankings.

No national title appearances hurt their ranking as well despite 2006 giving extra credit.
