19. STEVE YZERMAN’S 500th CAREER GOAL
The 1995-96 season was an historic campaign for the Red Wings, earning a record 62 victories out of 82 games. On January 17 of 1996, captain Steve Yzerman buried his own rebound past newly acquired Colorado Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy for his 500th career goal. The team poured off the bench to congratulate Yzerman, who became the 22nd player in NHL history to achieve the milestone, and joined Gordie Howe as the only players to score 500 goals with the Red Wings.
