(5) Washington Huskies @ Oregon Ducks
WHERE: Autzen Stadium – Eugene, OR
KICKOFF: Saturday, October 8 @ 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX
LINE: WASH -8.5
Are the Washington Huskies for real? The college football world wasn’t convinced until the Huskies went and destroyed Stanford this past weekend. That said, this week’s match-up with Oregon could be a let down game after the big win this past Saturday. To add more fuel to the fire, Washington has not won a game at Autzen Stadium since 2002.
It should come as no surprise that Washington head coach Chris Peterson is hitting his stride with the Huskies. Peterson gained fame at Boise State where he developed quality football players who know how to win. If there was ever a coach who could develop “moxie” it’s Peterson. A prime example is quarterback Jake Browning. Peterson puts Browning in position to make good decisions with his play calling. The sophomore quarterback has responded by completing over 70% of his passes.
The Ducks have lost three straight games and have fallen out of the national picture. Still, Oregon is always fun to watch with their wide open offense. To add some local flavor, former Michigan coach Brady Hoke is the defensive coordinator for the Ducks. While he will likely be the scapegoat for the defensive failings of Oregon this year, it’s important to understand that the recruiting talent has fallen off since the departure of Chip Kelly.
