Detroit Red Wings forward Andreas Athanasiou made the great Alex Ovechkin look like a fool Thursday night.

Athanasiou was able to get past Ovechkin and take a wicked wrist shot to beat Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby. The goal tied the score at one with 6:30 remaining in the first period. Athanasiou wasn’t done, he scored another goal later in the period to give the Wings a 2-1 to lead, which now gives him 13 on the year.
