The offense finally got going for the Detroit Tigers. They had a big four-run fourth inning. Jim Adduci started the scoring in the fourth when he hit a double to score Justin Upton. John Hicks came up with two runners on and hit a single to drive in Alex Avila.
Jose Iglesias added to the scoring when he hit a groundout RBI to make the score 4-1 before Nicholas Castellanos came up and capped the big inning with a RBI single. Detroit led 5-1 heading into the top of the fifth.
The White Sox tried to fight their way back with a RBI single from Melky Cabrera in the top of the fifth. Jose Iglesias delivered the final blow in the bottom half of the fifth when he hit a two-run scoring Jim Adduci and John Hicks.
Todd Frazier added a solo shot in the top of the sixth but couldn’t muster any more offense as Detroit went on to win 7-3.
Iglesias continued his dominance against Miguel Gonzalez going two-for-three with three RBI’s.
The Cleveland Indians head to Detroit on Monday for a huge four-game series to start off the month of May. The Indians will send out Trevor Bauer (2-2, 6.26 ERA) against our own Daniel Norris (1-2, 4.71 ERA) at 7:10 p.m. at Comerica Park.
