9/28 Tigers Roundup: Postseason Schedule, Tigers Celebrate 4th Straight Central Crown

–The Tigers clinched their 4th straight American League Central Division title on Sunday afternoon in front of a sold-out Comerica Park crowd. David Price pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings and the bullpen held on strong as Detroit beat Minnesota 3-0. Ian Kinsler had a 3rd inning solo home run and added a key 8th inning RBI. Torii Hunter was able to score Ezekiel Carrera on a sac fly in the 8th to officially put the game and regular season away. The final standings will show the Tigers finishing with a 90-72 record, and winning the division by 1 game. It’s the smallest difference between 1st & 2nd place in any division this season. Kudos to the Royals for giving us a run for our money.

— Brad Ausmus wouldn’t reveal his postseason rotation right away, saying he would think about it. He’s in no rush, as the Tigers don’t play Game 1 of the ALDS until Thursday. If I had to venture a guess, it would go Scherzer, Price, Verlander, Porcello.

— At the beginning of Sunday, there was a chance for 3 Game 163’s to be played on Monday. Unfortunately for cable networks ESPN & TBS, there won’t be any. The Wild Card round is set.

  • AL Wild Card Game: Oakland at Kansas City — Tue Sept 30 at 8pm on TBS
  • NL Wild Card Game: SF Giants at Pittsburgh — Wed Oct 1 at 8pm on ESPN

The winner of the OAK/KC game goes on to play the LA Angels, while the winner of SF/PIT will play Washington.

— We’ll leave you with some pictures of a happy Tigers clubhouse. Many of the Tigers took to Twitter or Instagram to share pictures of the Division clinching celebration:
