LB Perry Riley
Cut by: Washington Redskins
This was somewhat of a surprising cut as Perry Riley had been a very productive linebacker for the Redskins over the last few years. The former 4th round pick out of LSU led Washington in tackles in both 2012 and 2013, but has played in just 9 games the last two seasons. When healthy, Riley is a quality three-down linebacker who can play from sideline to sideline.
With free agent signee Jon Bostic going down with a leg injury earlier in training camp, the Lions are quite thin at linebacker and are desperate for some depth. Riley could step in right away and back up Tahir Whitehead at the Mike linebacker position for Detroit.
