BREAKING: Matthew Stafford hits career milestone with td pass

In 117 career games, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has now thrown 200 career touchdown passes. With a beautiful pass to Marvin Jones for 25 yards, Stafford is the sixth fastest to 200 Touchdown Passes in league history. The score gave the Lions the lead, XXX over the Green Bay Packers.

It is no surprise that Stafford threw a touchdown at Lambeau Field, according to Elias Stafford has the most touchdowns for an opposing player with 15; next on the list: Fran Tarkenton.

Stafford was the first overall selection of the Lions in the 2009 draft after a pretty solid collegiate career at Georgia. The former Bulldog was the #1 starter from the moment he signed with the Lions, and he’s been slinging it around the field ever since.

This offseason the Lions made Stafford the highest paid player in the league, and rightfully so. Stafford has been a great field general for the Lions, though not always surrounded by the best of teams. Yet, he has thrown for more than 4,000 yards in every season, except for his injury-shortened years as a rookie and in 2010.

With reaching the milestone tonight, Stafford sits sixth, one behind Tom Brady on the “fastest to 200 list,” doing it in 117 games. For reference, Dan Marino did it in 89 career games and Aaron Rodgers did it in 99. Some good company to keep for sure.

Stafford should be considered among the best in the league. That debate has been put to rest tonight. Congrats Matthew, keep slinging the rock!
