A few new details have emerged on the Detroit Lions free agency situation involving Ndamukong Suh. The team is able to use the franchise tag on Suh at any time, but Lions GM Martin Mayhew is not sure that is what the team plans on doing.
Mayhew said a decision hasn't been made on whether to use the franchise tag or not.

Mayhew is likely just buying his time until he knows for sure what is happening with Suh’s contract. Using the franchise tag on Suh would cost the team roughly $26.9 million against the cap, and that would severely hinder the Lions chances at creating a quality 53-man roster.
Mayhew is opportunistic a deal can get done and said the #Lions have a lot of important elements to get deal done.

Mayhew said "he feels good" about a deal getting done. Mayhew said Suh has expressed to him an interest in staying.
