In their first two games of the 2016 season, the Michigan Wolverines have been absolutely dominant, outscoring their opponents 114-17. Granted, those two wins came over Hawaii and UCF, but Michigan has lived up to expectations to this point. Leading the way for the Wolverines has been their quarterback Wilton Speight, who has completed 70 percent of his pass attempts for 457 yards and seven touchdowns. As far as the rushing attack goes, it has been the true freshman phenom Chris Evans leading the team with 147 yards on only 17 carries.
The offense has been good but the Michigan defense, led by Jabrill Peppers, has been equally impressive as it has allowed only 281.5 yards per game, including only 103.5 yards through the air. If Michigan is able to get pressure on Colorado’s quarterback, it could be a very long day for the Buffaloes offense.
Colorado will invade Michigan Stadium with a record of 2-0, following blowout wins over Colorado State and Idaho State. The Buffaloes are led by senior QB Sefo Liufau, who has completed nearly 75 percent of his passes so far through two games, throwing for 522 yards and three touchdowns in the process. The Buffs are hoping for a good showing at the worst, an FBS team that has not posted a winning season since 2005 is hoping for signs of major improvement in 2016.
This is the fifth meeting all-time between the two teams, the fourth in Ann Arbor. The last meeting was nearly 20 years ago in 1997 when the Wolverines rolled the Buffaloes 27-3. The lone win for Colorado in the all-time series is the infamous ‘Miracle at Michigan’ back in 1994.
