Detroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek will represent the Czech Republic during the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto this fall. To mark the occasion, he had a special mask designed for use during the tournament by artist Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt, whose clientele include over half of active NHL goaltenders, and it is quite the sight.

Dave includes a description of each of the masks he paints.
Petr Mrazek and his buddy Brad had an awesome idea for Petr’s World Cup mask???. I just put on my seatbelt and started to paint this rollercoaster of fun paint ???. On the mask you will find Petr himself, as his alter ego with the same name…? And he is dressed up as King Kong…??. And since World Cup will be played in Toronto… This King Kong is climbing CN Tower… He puts the Czech flag on the top to show he will conquer the city and the World Cup… But watch out… It is a lot of fighter planes trying to shoot King Kong down, just like the real King Kong… And it is a plane for each of the teams in the tournament! This is for sure a true storyteller mask ?? Thanks Petr! I love to be your personal artist! @pmraza34 #wch2016 #teamczech #nhl @detroitredwings @nhl #DaveArt #DaveArtCreativity
Mrazek has featured Peter Griffin from ‘Family Guy‘ on all of his masks since becoming a part of the Red Wings organization. His previous two masks featured the wildly popular and imitable character dressed as RoboCop, also painted by Gunnarsson.
Be sure to watch for Mrazek’s newest Red Wings mask design, which will be made public in the near future.
