1. Bob Probert
In late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Red Wings captain and star Steve Yzerman was often the target of the opposition. Bob Probert later said he saw it as his duty to protect Yzerman, and soon the opposition got the message. Probert would soon morph into what some call the greatest fighter of all time. His legendary fight with Tie Domi in 1992 is just that – legendary. With 3,300 (5th all time) penalty minutes in his career, the late Bob Probert will forever be remembered for his days in the Winged Wheel, and the best fighter hockey has ever seen.
