4 Red Wings to suit up for World Cup of Hockey

Though they are now teammates on the Detroit Red Wings, forwards Dylan Larkin, Frans Nielsen, Tomas Tatar and Tomas Vanek are currently opponents playing in the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto.

Larkin currently plays for Team North America, while Nielsen, Tatar and Vanek are suiting up for Team Europe. North America defeated Europe by a 7-4 final in a pre-tournament game at Bell Centre in Montreal.

Larkin scored twice for Team North America; his tallies were North America’s second and seventh, respectively. Nielsen scored a goal and recorded an assist for Team Europe and was a +1.

Meanwhile, new Red Wings forward Tomas Vanek recorded an assist, while Tomas Tatar was a minus-2 with a shot on goal.

The World Cup will conclude on October 1, meaning that several Red Wings players won’t be available for training camp, but will be ready to go for the latter half of the exhibition season and the start of the regular season October 13 in Tampa Bay.
