Detroit Lions fans have lost their very last chance at seeing Ndamukong Suh play this season. The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Suh will not take part in the upcoming Pro Bowl. Suh’s replacement will apparently be Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins, who is now slated to participate in his 3rd Pro Bowl. This news does not shock the sports world, as Suh is exploring the free agent market this offseason and is protecting himself from injury.
Suh’s absence means yet another high profile player will not be taking part in the NFL’s Showcase. This issue exasperates NFL fans and media alike annually at this time of year, who constantly wonder about the usefulness of the Pro Bowl as an “All Star” type game, when there are so many marquee players who don’t participate.
Suh’s departure leaves Glover Quin as the last remaining Lion on the Pro Bowl roster. Matt Stafford has been reported as a possible late addition as well.
