In a recent interview with Ari Meirov, Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph revealed his unique nickname for himself and his fellow safety, Brian Branch. The dynamic duo, who have earned praise as one of the best safety pairings in the NFL, refer to each other as ‘Zuperman and Batman.’

“I’m Zuperman and he’s Batman,” Joseph explained during an exclusive interview with Ari Meirov. “You know, he doesn’t do much talking; he just gets straight down to business. He’s a certified hitter. And me, I’m Zuperman. My superpower is to take the ball away. So, that’s what we call ourselves, ‘Zuperman and Batman,’ for real.”
This nickname perfectly reflects their complementary playing styles. Branch, known for his physical presence and tackling ability, is the no-nonsense “Batman,” while Joseph prides himself on his ability to create turnovers, hence his self-appointed title of “Zuperman.”

Following standout performances in the 2024 regular season, Joseph and Branch have received widespread recognition. Despite being snubbed for the Pro Bowl, Joseph earned a well-deserved spot on the 1st Team All-Pro roster, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s top safeties. Meanwhile, Branch was named to the Pro Bowl, further cementing their status as one of the most formidable safety duos in the NFL.
With both safeties making their mark in the league, it’s clear that ‘Zuperman and Batman’ are not just a nickname—they’re a force to be reckoned with on the field.
