Season-Ending Injury Reserve for Quintez Cephus as 21-Day Window Expires

Quintez Cephus, Wide Receiver for the Lions, had hoped to return to the field by the end of the 2022 season. However, his return was impossible due to his foot injury in Week 4. Cephus was designated to return from injured reserve on December 7th but could not prove himself in the season’s final three weeks. As a result, the Lions have placed Cephus on season-ending injured reserve.

Timeline for Return

Teams have a 21-day window to either activate a player or lose them to season-ending injured reserve. In Cephus’ case, the window ran out, and the Lions could not activate him for the season’s final two games or any potential postseason action. Even after his return designation, observers in Allen Park did not report seeing Cephus at practices.

Season Statistics

Cephus’ season with the Lions has been cut short, and he finishes with only two receptions for 15 yards in four total games, one of which was a start.
